it's a legit issue that needs to be fixed, probably missing binaries since the package rebuilds.

We need more info. We especially need to know if you are using amd64 or i386.

Actually, this should be working either way, unless snort is pulling that from a non-standard URL. That file is present on our server for both i386 and amd64:
./8/All/mysql-client-5.1.53.tbz
./amd64/8/All/mysql-client-5.1.53.tbz

Workaround is
pkg_add -r http://files.pfsense.org/packages/8/All/mysql-client-5.1.53.tbz
from command line
than everything installs correctly

Thx to Dienis this helps intalling snort package, but i also experienced this error. AFAICS it depends on the url's used to fetch the mysql package. Inside the Webinterface the following url's are tried:
http://www.pfsense.com/packages/config/snort/bin/8.1x86/mysql-client-5.1.53.tbz
and
http://ftp2.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8.1-RELEASE/Latest/mysql-client-5.1.53.tbz
I tried them both in my browser ending up in an 404.
So i tried the manual method from Dienis which worked like a charm after setting the url for my amd64 system instead the i386 url.
The working url is:
http://files.pfsense.org/packages/amd64/8/All/mysql-client-5.1.53.tbz
Hope it helps a bit because you asked for feedback on the pfsense website :-)

seems resolved now. Package is able to instal will no issues.

I am currently having this issue too and can confirm the problem is an error with both http://files.pfsense.org/packages/8/All/snort-2.9.2.3.tbz and http://ftp2.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-8.1-release/All/snort-2.9.2.3.tbz leading to 404s.
