zabbix54-proxy showed up for me (running pfSense 2.5.2-RELEASE) sometime today. Yay!
I've installed it but it fails :-( with the following output repeating in /var/log/zabbix-proxy/zabbix-proxy.log
:
19225:20210713:165423.457 [Z3001] connection to database '/var/db/zabbix-proxy/proxy.db' failed: [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
19225:20210713:165423.458 database is down: reconnecting in 10 seconds
This seems like probably the same issue described at https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/10557#note-8, namely that the proxy is being compiled with MySQL rather than SQLite support enabled.

Description :
Zabbix is an enterprise-class open source distributed monitoring solution.
Zabbix is software that monitors numerous parameters of a network and the
health and integrity of servers. Zabbix uses a flexible notification
mechanism that allows users to configure e-mail based alerts for virtually
any event. This allows a fast reaction to server problems. Zabbix offers
excellent reporting and data visualisation features based on the stored
data. This makes Zabbix ideal for capacity planning.

Clean install works as expected
see #11493 for workaround

Thank you for the reply!
What do you mean by "clean install"? I have tried removing and reinstalling the zabbix-proxy54
package — that didn't seem to help.
The workaround didn't work for me. There was no /var/db/zabbix-proxy/proxy.db
to remove. (Either it got removed as part of the package upgrade process, or perhaps my flailing with uninstalling and reinstalling zabbix-proxy of various versions removed it.)
Just in case, I tried manually creating the database, based on the instructions at https://www.zabbix.com/documentation/current/manual/appendix/install/db_scripts#sqlite (even though those instructions also state that the proxy will automatically create the database if it does not exist.) I stopped the zabbix-proxy service, then ran
cd /var/db/zabbix-proxy
sqlite3 proxy.db < /usr/local/share/zabbix54/proxy/database/sqlite3/schema.sql
chown zabbix proxy.db
That didn't seem to help either. I still see the same error in
zabbix-proxy.log
. (This one:)[Z3001] connection to database '/var/db/zabbix-proxy/proxy.db' failed: [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

Hello,
I also concurs that the zabbix-proxy54 package install does not succeed, trying with 2.5.1. Here is the install logs in attachment.

This issue (syntax error in /usr/local/pkg/zabbix-proxy.inc) appears to be fixed now (in package zabbix-proxy54 1.0.4_8). Thank you!
I'm still having the "connection to database '/var/db/zabbix-proxy/proxy.db' failed
" issue described above
