Bug #1419
closedIncorrect Intel License information in dmesg
0%
Description
Running:
FreeBSD fw 8.1-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE-p2 #1: Tue Apr 5 17:09:22 EDT 2011 sullrich@FreeBSD_8.0_pfSense_2.0-snaps.pfsense.org:/usr/obj.pfSense/usr/pfSensesrc/src/sys/pfSense_SMP.8 i386
Hard disk install on a P4 from ISO and upgraded to this release with autoupdate. I find the following reference in dmesg:
ipw_bss: You need to read the LICENSE file in /usr/share/doc/legal/intel_ipw/.
ipw_bss: If you agree with the license, set legal.intel_ipw.license_ack=1 in /boot/loader.conf.
However, there is no /usr/share/doc/legal/intel_ipw directory (or, for that matter, a /usr/share/doc). A 'find' shows no directory named intel_ipw on the box.

- Status changed from New to Rejected
just a fact of the Intel driver, we don't include doc. You'll have to get it from a stock FreeBSD.

Found a copy:
http://cygnus.redirectme.net/FreeBSD_4.9_Docs/legal/intel_ipw/LICENSE
We should be careful of this condition especially:
"Your rights to redistribute the Software
shall be contingent upon your installation of this Agreement in its entirety in
the same directory as the Software."

When was 2.0.1 released?
I just installed it the other day, sorry I didn't find a release date, but hopefully this information will be changed in the next version so the bootup and /var/log/dmesg.boot is still talking about this, because I was wondering today, where the /usr/share/doc/legal was at...
THANKS
