Description

Hello fellow pfSense Redmine members,

Can we please migrate the last item to be reinstalled on package reinstall to be the Service_Watchdog package?

Any time any package reinstall is done this package should be the first to be deleted and last to be reinstalled. It continues to attempt to restart all processes and you can not change it until the package reinstall completes.

If possible can we change it so this is the last item to reactivate? This would help mitigate upgrade and reinstall problems that can be caused by the watch dog attempting to restart processes during updates.

  • Project changed from pfSense Plus to pfSense Packages
  • Category changed from Package System to Service Watchdog
  • Status changed from New to Rejected
  • Priority changed from Normal-package to Very Low
  • Release Notes deleted (Default)

The package system has no special knowledge of individual packages and adding that would create a significant amount of complexity and technical debt.

The Service Watchdog package itself could maybe be smarter about knowing what is happening and when to take action, but that would be a feature request in the package and not a bug in the package system as a whole.
