Description

Given the frequent reference that deciding which scheduler to use is a pretty important decision in setting up the shaper, there should be a brief note as to what each does and a link to the wiki as well. For example, try to find info on what FAIRQ is from the forum, wiki or within the pfSense interface, without googling DragonFly's sites... no info.

The larger issue is documentation in general on the shaper, how much should be explained in the actual web interface vs. what should be on the help page links, vs. what we're not going to put tons of time into to make freely available and will reserve for the next book. ;)

I reported all these issues with the traffic shaper because I've been asked by a group of forum readers to create a detailed howto for setting it up in the style I did so with the OVPN howtos (http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,24435.0.html), and in trying to configure it in new and awesome ways so as to write about any caveats I came up against all these issues.

I'm happy to write them, and also happy for you to use them in the book and on the wiki too :)
