Redmine pfSense - Feature #6228 (New): Please provide a means for IGMPv3 and MLDv2 supporthttps://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/62282016-04-21T15:47:28ZVictor Toni

Multicast support gets more important as people are switching to IPTV.
For FreeBSD and pfSense there seems to be support available for IGMPv2 and only limited support for IGMPv3 (igmpproxy).

As IPv6 gets used increasingly, the solution should also support MLDv2 (which igmpproxy doesn't).
pfSense - Bug #6099 (Resolved): igmpproxy does not recognize upstream interfacehttps://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/60992016-04-09T16:49:17ZVictor Toni

igmpproxy does not start anymore with a working config from 2.2.6.

The reason seems to be that igmpproxy does not the recognize the interface.
My WAN (bge0) interface is configured for VLAN 7 (PPPOE) and VLAN 8 (DHCP).
igmpproxy is configured to use bge0_vlan8 as upstream. bge0_vlan8 is not recognized, only bge0 (which shouldn't).

The main network is 10.0/16.
In the subnet 10.0.15/24 there might be some clients using VLC to request multicast from igmpproxy.
The dedicated network 192.168.11/24 is used for the set top boxes (IPTV).
The network 192.168.1/24 is used for accessing the modem.

The config was used to created the attached log by calling igmpproxy manually via

igmpproxy -d -vvvv /tmp/igmpproxy.conf

bge0_vlan8 does not appear.
