Redmine pfSense - Feature #10535 (Duplicate): Additional options to add to the dhcpd v4 and v6 configurat...https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/105352020-05-07T04:10:36ZBogdan P

As of right now the gui for the DHCP server (both v4 and v6) does allow for a limited number of global options. For example if i want to use the "ddns-dual-stack-mixed-mode true" configuration parameter I have to modify the services.inc file to write the dhcpd config under a different name (dhcpd.conf.auto for example) and then manually edit the dhcpd.conf file. I propose a Custom option box in dhcp server (both v4 and v6) for global configuration parameters. Same solution as in the DNS Forwarder service.
pfSense - Bug #7324 (Resolved): DHCPv6 Dynamic DNS hostnamehttps://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/73242017-02-27T03:39:18ZBogdan P

According to 2.3.3 New Features and Changes it is now possible to force a Dynamic DNS hostname in DHCP/DHCP6 Server settings. All is working as intended for the DHCPv4 server side, checking DDNS Hostnames generates a ddns-hostname "randomname" definition in the lease section of the dhcpd.conf.

host s_lan_7 {
hardware ethernet 58:48:22:60:c8:7d;
option dhcp-client-identifier "00:01:00:01:1f:e1:db:25:52:98:93:c3:f2:f0";
fixed-address 10.0.200.11;
option host-name "randomname";
ddns-hostname "randomname";

Also in the Static DHCP Mapping on LAN you have the option to check DDNS Hostname.

Now on the DHCPv6 server side of things after checking the DDNS Hostnames checkbox the relevant section in dhcpdv6.conf doesn't contain any reference whatsoever to a ddns-hostname option :

host s_lan_4 {
host-identifier option dhcp6.client-id 00:01:00:01:1f:e1:db:25:52:98:93:c3:f2:f0;
fixed-address6 2a02:beef:cafe:0001::d;
option host-name randomname;
}

There is no mention whatsoever of a DDNS Hostname option in the Static DHCPv6 Mapping.
pfSense - Bug #7138 (Assigned): Pfsense wide dhcpv6 client doesn't recognise ifid statementhttps://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/71382017-01-19T02:47:44ZBogdan P

Right now a user cannot set a specific ipv6 address on a tracked interface. The interface id is autogenerated based on EUI-64. Trying to manually insert an ifid statement trows out an error (unrecognised statement). Obviously there is no exposed option in gui.
pfSense - Bug #7131 (Resolved): DHCP v4&v6 DDNS missing optionshttps://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/71312017-01-18T09:36:48ZBogdan P

After revision 391d63da the dhcpv6 server settings allows the user to chose between allow, deny or ignore client updates. That option is not present in the dhcpv4 server settings, the ignore client updates is hard coded in the config file.
ISC DHCP supports standard DDNS updates since 4.3 https://deepthought.isc.org/article/AA-01091/0/ISC-DHCP-support-for-Standard-DDNS.html ( ddns-update-style standard ). Right now ddns-update-style interim is hard coded into the config files. It could be useful for presenting a new option to the user in dhcpv4 and v6 server settings from witch to choose standard or interim update.
pfSense - Feature #6960 (Resolved): Introduce Kea DHCP as an alternative DHCP server for IPv4 and...https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/69602016-11-24T06:51:28ZBogdan P

I think it would be a good idea to at least take a look at kea dhcp by ISC. It seems to be a much better solution for pfsense than ISC DHCP.
pfSense - Bug #6397 (Not a Bug): Status-Monitoring-Quality allows selection of nonexistent GW https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/63972016-05-24T04:25:50ZBogdan P

When you create a new WAN gateway it is automatically added to the monitoring drop down menu (quality section). If you delete the GW it is not automatically removed from the quality drop down section. Resetting log files doesn't help.
pfSense - Bug #6319 (Resolved): DHCP6 DDNS tsig key missing from dhcpv6.conf for reverse zonehttps://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/63192016-05-05T08:06:43ZBogdan P

Reverse v6 dynamic zone doesn't get updated despite having "Add reverse dynamic DNS entries." checked. Found out that the reverse v6 zone defined in dhcpdv6.conf doesn't have the key definition so all updates are denied by the dns server. The forward zone doesn't have this problem.
