My ISP currently returns two RAs in response to an RS. Both of the RAs have the preference field set (RFC 4191). The router with the higher preference is the proper router. Depending on the order the RAs are received, the incorrect router is used. More context on the issue here.
There are two issues with rtsold and its usage:- It is invoked with the -1 option, causing it to exit upon the first RA it receives, ignoring any subsequent RAs.
- There is no handling of the preference field. Even without -1, it would be unclear which router to favor.
While multiple RAs on the WAN interface is probably nonstandard, it is technically valid. I suspect my ISP probably has some tweaking to do on their end. They are still in the process of rolling out IPv6 across their customer base.
Nevertheless, it would be nice to support multiple RAs and router preferences.
