It looks like that port has not been added to FreeBSD yet. The linked PR shows they added some code to the main qemu port to not break that port when building qemu-guest-agent, but there is no emulators/qemu-guest-agent in the FreeBSD ports tree. It should be added upstream in FreeBSD before we can do anything with it here.

The virtio_console kernel device is in the pfSense kernel now (See #9985) so once it's in the upstream FreeBSD ports tree, it should be possible to include in our package repository.

Installed sucesefully qemu-guest-agent on the:

2.6.0-DEVELOPMENT (amd64)
built on Mon Jul 26 14:27:42 EDT 2021
FreeBSD 12.2-STABLE

It works fine with ProxMox. Still, it would be more convenient with qemu package.

Excluding from release notes since it's only being built and there is no package for it yet.

Jim,

According to the installation instructions in the Forum post below, the current package will not survive a pfSense upgrade. If so, should this Feature request be in its present status of "Resolved"?

Thanks,

This feature request was only for the binary -- making a pfSense package wrapper for it would be a separate feature request.

There is a feature request for the QEMU package:
