In dashboard log widget an option to automatically resolve source or destination names depending whether names exist in private address space would be extremely useful

Description

I understand that there may not be a desire based on performance reasons to resolve ip addresses from an external source e.g. that are being blocked by the firewalls wan interfaces.
However in troubleshooting issues, the ability to resolve addresses that exists in the rfc1918 space would be helpful.
I have found that most issues support issues I encounter are based on internal users or devices internal to the network.
Such as why is ip x suddenly trying to to a outside the network, or to to another vlan etc. Or Alice’s cannot connect to x, identifying Alice by host name rather than an ip is preferable.
Easy and instant identification of that internal device in the source or destination fields in the widget would be advantageous and would avoid a multi click through process to identify the device in question.
This could also be applied to the logs tab.
A one shot resolve everything in the view both on the widget and the log would also be helpful

That would be overkill for a dashboard widget. Someone can resolve via the firewall log view if needed. There are also security concerns with resolving hosts from firewall logs automatically as they happen.

Hi Jim,
Would a button that does a one shot resolve on the widget be an option?
Thanks,
Andy

It would be confusing and of minimal use since the log scrolls dynamically, there is no telling if the resolve would finish before the entries scrolled off.
