Description

Our Netgate, updated from pfSense 2.4.5-RELEASE-p1 to pfSense Plus 21.02.2 had the issue that the Traffic Graphs on the Dashboard froze after a few days of uptime - while the CPU usage, load etc. were still there and active. The browser-based refresh of the dashboard and also logout- and logon was unsuccessful, which is why Netgate was restarted about once a day.

After about a week of this procedure, the Netgate no longer started. After checking the boot sequence via the serial port, it was found out that the config.xml could suddenly no longer be found. However, nothing has been changed on the system since the update from pfSense to pfSense +. The system could not be started anymore. The SSD has been checked and does not contain any bad sectors. The hardware used (Netgate) works perfectly with the old version, which was cloned to a second SSD before the update. The bootlog is attached.

  • Status changed from New to Not a Bug

Something is wrong with your filesystem or disk, not a bug. You should wipe and reload from a recovery installation image to ensure you have a consistent system before continuing. Contact TAC at https://go.netgate.com and they can assist you.
