Description

My understanding is that the captive portal status page should report those users currently logged in by means of some interactive authentication method (ie. they typed a name/pass, rather than just getting a mac-pass through).

I would make these points:

1. I use a mix of mac pass-through and also local authentication. Nothing ever appears on the status page. If the local auth users are "supposed" to appear... then perhaps this feature is being blocked by the fact of "some" mac-pass through users.

2. I would have thought the point of this status page would be to show the status of any users passing through the captive portal (regardless of how they "authenticate"- by password or pre-approved mac)...

If I can help by providing any diagnostic info/etc.. please do not hesitate to contact!

what version? Always include that, and it's better to post things like this that have no specific bug (the status page definitely works) to the forum first.

OK, Thanks for the advice. Here follows:

Version: 2.0 RC1 release (from the iso, NO daily build updates).

I had posted to the forum here: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,34627.0.html

According to the forum reply by Ermal LUÇI, my experience is not as he described should be expected. I definitely get no status for the users that login at the CP portal page.

If there is some "stock method" to debug the thing, I would be happy to follow instructions. If not, I will try and investigate it myself. But if there is some advice to save me some hours poking in the dark, that would be gratefully received!

... just thought of something...

I have the "automatically add users that login to the pass-through mac list" enabled.

That might also prevent the status page showing, as although the user logged in- he is also not a pass-through client.

I will do some testing around that and report back at the next weekend.

I still believe (although I am ready to accept my belief is nonsense!) the status page should show and count all active users, regardless of how they connect.. Otherwise, its not really a true status- kinda half a status!

Typo: "he is also not a pass-through client."
should read: "he is also now a pass-through client."

Not a bug.

I could set up a local test environment.

The empty status page is because of the CP option: "Enable Pass-through MAC automatic additions"

Should I post a new feature request for the status page to reflect mac-pass through users, or can this bug be converted to a feature request ?

(In this case the status page X to disconnect a user would not make sense in it's current form, but it could give the option to delete the mac mapping and logout the user, OR just be hidden for mac-pass users...)

Sorry for posting a bug too quickly, although it seemed that way based on my forum investigation.

Passthrough entries are not active CP users by design. The status page won't show those and shouldn't.
