Description

The current application available through pfsense doesn't allow for monitoring of multiple interfaces and data collection.
The reports generated reference FTP and HTTP which to be honest is fine but still shows the dated nature of the app.
The tool needs to be modernized in the following ways.

1. WebUI is very dated. Doesnt allow you to zoom in or a particular time.
2. It monitors one interface at a time. For setups that have multiple interfaces in use this tool isnt meant for that.
3. Have it hook into pfsense privilege system so that at least there someway to query the user for credentials.

According to Feature #2576 this is a deprecated package. So i think the decision needs to be made to either Remove the package entirely or update it. There is some real utility here but as of now its just a very unhelpful package in 2023.

For any of that to be possible the actual developers of bandwidthd would have to add those functions first, which at this point is unlikely since they have not had a release since 2005. If you are unhappy with how it currently works, use something else. For those who are OK with its current state, they can continue to use it until it stops functioning.
