Description

Due to issues with MMC, I had to install pfSense Plus to an external USB NVME drive on Netgate 6100.
Reboot worked fine with MMC-based install but not with USB-based. When rebooting pfSense (manually or after update), it will get stuck and require hard reset by replugging the power plug.

Using hw.acpi.disable_on_reboot=1 and hw.acpi.disable_on_reboot=0 does not fix the issue in any way.

Console output shows the following during reboot:

ovpnc1: link state changed to DOWN
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `vnlru' to stop... done
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `syncer' to stop...
Syncing disks, vnodes remaining... 0 0 done
All buffers synced.

That is not a supported or tested configuration.

You can install an M.2 SSD inside the 6100 if you cannot use the eMMC: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/netgate-6100/m-2-nvme-installation.html

Can you provide examples on compatible SSD drives? I have tried already multiple variants but because the internal slot is B&N-keyed almost none work. I also tried using adapter for B&N-key and did not work either. So it seems that there are no SSD available anymore which fit the specs.
