Description

Applies to: 2.0-RC3 (i396) built on Sun Jul 3 13:02:53 EDT 2011

Attempting to use the "easy rule" feature for Destination == WAN Address occasionally fails. From the error given it seems pfsense is attempting to DNS lookup the WAN Address. That naturally fails when the address is a private address.

Sorry I can't be more helpful: I can't figure out why failure is only occasional.

Without a lot more detail this is impossible to track down. Please start a forum thread and see if anyone else has had similar issues and gather information.

At a minimum we need the precise error message you saw, and what exactly you clicked on at the time. Such as if it was adding a block or a pass rule, and if possible the parameters passed to the Easy Rule code (right click on the pass/block link you clicked and copy the URL).

There is no code in the easy rule section for doing DNS lookups, so conjecture there doesn't help, we need actual details.
