Description

Suddenly our secondary router was logging 1.7 million lines per minute of:

ERROR [kea-dhcp4.commands.0x1e4c98412000] COMMAND_SOCKET_ACCEPT_FAIL Failed to accept incoming connection on command socket -1: Bad file descriptor

Restarting the Kea service did not fix the issue, rebooting the secondary router did fix the error, at least so far (past 30 min). Prior to failure, there was no kea related logs.

I think it's a bug that a single service can log that much, perhaps there is a way to have a backoff, or a way to mark duplicate logs. Note these logs were sent to a syslog server, I have local logging turned off to protect the router's SSD.

Hello,

Have you confirmed that your Kea HA is setup correctly and syncing across from primary to secondary? This error would indicate to me that there was an issue restoring the DHCP state from primary to secondary.

I would start on this with a ticket to Netgate Support. Have you opened one there already for this appliance? We can collect status reports for the firewall when it's in this state to get a better understand of what is going on.

Marking as Incomplete for now.
