Feature #16659
openAdvLinkMTU needs to be configurable
0%
Description
The radvd AdvLinkMTU setting should be user-configurable instead of being derived from the interface MTU. This assumption breaks in scenarios such as 6rd, where IPv6 has a lower effective MTU due to encapsulation.
According to: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/8695 the only workaround is to reduce the interface MTU globally (e.g., to 1480), which affects all traffic rather than just IPv6. The purpose of AdvLinkMTU is to advertise an IPv6-specific MTU independent of the interface MTU; tying it to the interface MTU defeats that purpose.
As it stands, I'm unable to access https://learn.microsoft.com which just so happens to contain a large swath of Microsoft's documentation unless I force the interface MTU to 1480 which needlessly lowers the IPv4 MTU. Please fix this.
