Description

Unfortunately some sites have issues with the usual MTU of 1500, e.g. Microsoft Lync: https://forums.he.net/index.php?topic=3165.0
Setting an AdvLinkMTU of 1480 for RADVD fixes the issue, but unfortunately it is not configurable via the RA settings.

  • Category set to IPv6 Router Advertisements (radvd/rtsold)
  • Status changed from New to Rejected

radvd will take the MTU of the interface and use it, if it's set. So you can influence this already by changing your interface MTU to match what you want to advertise.

Dear Jim Pingle,

in cases where v6 tunnels are active, the v4 MTU differs from the v6 MTU as a v6 tunnel adds additional bytes.
At the moment one needs to lower the v4 MTU as well to have a matching v6 MTU. That limits v4 only connections as more fragmentation is needed.

please re-consider making AdvLinkMTU configurable.

Thank you!
