Description

Please change OpenVPN server implementation like OPNSense does it. Explanation:

  1. External VPN access must be done with 2FA, legally (GDPR, NIS2) and because of common sense. I for one wouldn't be able to sleep without it.
  1. 2FA implementation for OpenVPN on pfSense is not good enough, requires additional FreeRadius service, password is 4-8 numbers (insecure), user can't save password in OpenVPN Connect (usability)

From what I have seen in public domain, OpenVPN is sometimes THE reason users switch from pfSense to OPNSense. Don't let them. pfSense is so much better and user friendly in other features, almost in everything except OpenVPN.

This is my genuine attempt to make pfSense better as I see it. Thanks.
