Description

When I UN-CHECK "Use a URL server for firmware upgrades other than www.pfsense.org" under "Updater Settings", and "Base URL:" is left BLANK, Auto Update shows:

Downloading new version information...done
Unable to check for updates.
Could not contact pfSense update server http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD_RELENG_8_1/i386/pfSense_RELENG_2_0/.updaters/

It should not be checking for snapshots.

Also, pfSense should STOP checking ENTIRELY for Updates as it is logical for someone who does not wish it checking for Updates to leave the Base URL: BLANK, but for pfSense to check EACH and EVERY TIME the pages is refreshed or viewed... It is a bit irritating and creates unnecessary traffic.

Even if someone wants to check for updates, pfSense should do it ALOT less frequently.

  • Status changed from New to Rejected
  • Target version deleted (2.0.1)
  • Affected Version deleted (2.0)

leaving the base URL blank doesn't remove it, you'll have to remove it from globals.inc. there are no bugs here. YOu need to change your update URL to the stable path on the settings tab if you want it to work.
