Carried over from bug #3064 on the pfSense redmine project.

Attached is a diff patch against FreeBSD 8.3-RELENG adapted from relevant patch to FreeBSD HEAD (http://svnweb.freebsd.org/base/head/sys/dev/bge/if_bge.c?r1=251733&r2=252227).

It would be nice to have as all NICs on my board are BCM57780.

I have written to FreeBSD a week ago to submit a PR requesting a backport to 8.3-RELENG but they have not replied. I’m not surprised as FreeBSD 8.3 is no longer the frontier of their dev efforts.

I forgot to mention that with current FreeBSD 8.3-RELENG based pfSense releases, all NIC LEDs cease to work (and remain unlit upon warm reboot) once the if_bge module is loaded.
