Description

With a simple OPT1 configured for IPv6 and 'unmanaged' router advertisements, the (ICMP6) RA packages are (1) measurable via 'tcpdump -i vr2 icmp6' AND (2) received by what is connected to the physical OPT1 interface (vr2 in my case.)

PROBLEM

When a VLAN is configured using OPT1 as its physical medium, IPv4/IPv6 routing (including DHCP) work as usual except for router advertisements. They can be measured using 'tcpdump -i vr2_vlan1 icmp6' and all seems well but...

THE RA PACKETS NEVER ARRIVE AT THEIR DESTINATION

The difference (when testing using tcpdump on the destination machine) is that RA packets are visible when connecting to the physical OPT1 but not visible (they never arrive) when connecting to the VLAN1 (over OPT1.)

I've tried the experiment above both with assigning in interfaces.php?if=opt1 real addresses to OPT1 as well as selecting 'none' for the addresses for the 'IPv4/IPv6 Configuration Type'.

this isn't true, RAs on VLANs are widely used with no issues. Tagging VLAN 1 is generally a bad idea, I suspect your switch is breaking something or your switch config just isn't right in general. Please post to the forum or list for further assistance.
