Dear All,
Please consider bringing back TinyDNS or BIND packages. For a small place wishing to run own nameservers and seeking high availability, having it run on pfSense using CARP/HA is arguably the best solution. In case of trouble, as long as any internet functionality remains, it will be one of the pfSense CARP devices and then TinyDNS or BIND with it. Getting nameserver high availibility on the LAN side is more difficult as HAProxy does not serve UDP. Then, rebooting a server on the LAN side may be enough to make DNS on port 53/udp inaccessible.
