I have a fresh 2.3.2 install on i386 on a 4gb cf card (nano version). Hostnames in Alias didn't work. On the firewall there is no file like /var/etc/filterdns.conf.
On an other system with amd64 and normal installation and updated from 2.2 branch, there is the file /var/etc/filterdns.conf and hostname alias works fine.
I tested it with 2 new installations on i386, nano, 4GB. The problem apperas on both machines.

Unable to reproduce. Loaded up pfSense-CE-2.3.2-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd-vga.img and hostnames in aliases worked fine.
Please post on the forum for assistance until a more specific issue can be identified.
