Description

It would be very helpful if the ”System Information” widget could indicate if packages need to be updated. Currently it displays “The system is on the latest version.” which only refers to the pfsense base system. One has to manually check the installed packages, which is easy forgotten and package upgrades can be missed.

Suggestion: A 2nd line below the green line and the string “Version information updated…” with “Package upgrades available…[link-to-packages]” or “All packages are on the latest version”.

Furthermore, it would be nice if pfsense could send an email if either the base system or a package needs upgrading. So the user is aware of a possible upgrade without requiring logging into the GUI regularly.

  • Status changed from New to Rejected

There is a packages widget that checks for package updates. It won't be added to the main system information widget.

E-mail isn't likely to happen. I believe there is already a separate ticket requesting that, but it may or may not also have been rejected at the time.

You're right, I didn't know that. That's indeed sufficient.

Found it, it's #8011.
