Description
Log rotation was added in #8350 but it needs more testing and adjusting to ensure that daemons are properly notified when the logs are rotated and that logs continue to function after. Splitting this off into its own issue so that it is easier to track.

Everything looks OK here with the latest code. Packages may need other/individual attention but those can get their own issues as they are discovered.
