I struggle with this significantly the other day, windows wouldn't connect, kept getting an error about something being incompatible. I changed the "Set Key Exchange" from v1 to Auto and everything started working. I was then able to change CHAP to MSCHAP-v2 and AES to 2048.

I added "Auto" to the recipe as an alternate setting, the other changes largely depend on the client being used. The whole recipe is due for an update but it's also not one we generally recommend these days so it may be a while. That's beyond the scope of this issue though, which should be covered by the current change.
