Description

I have a generic (QOTOM-Q355G4) pfSense box with 4 NICs and network assignment as the following:

WAN - igb0
LAN - igb1
WIFI - igb2

Unused igb3 is listed in the drop down as available network port.

I needed to switch interface assignment of LAN to igb3.
Surprisingly it was not possible. After switch the new assignment wouldn't stick and always was back as igb1.

However I was able to add a new interface as LAN - igb3.
I suspect that pfSense could not complete previous switch as igb3 was seeing by pfSense disabled (??)

But if that is the case then the pfSense UI should not have shown igb3 as available network port in the drop down.

  • Status changed from New to Rejected

Can't reproduce as stated, swapping assignments works as expected for enabled or disabled interfaces.

This site is not for support or diagnostic discussion.

For assistance in solving problems, please post on the Netgate Forum or the pfSense Subreddit .

See Reporting Issues with pfSense Software for more information.

This is not a support issue and I suspect is a generic case.
That's unfortunate you can't reproduce it.
