Description

On pfSense 21.05.02 I've started to get a panic with panic string:

esp_input_cb: Unexpected address family: xxx

Where xxx varies (248, 255, 127, 0, ...)

Hardware is Netgate 7100.

If crashdump is needed, it's available upon request.

There isn't enough information to go on here. We need at least the backtrace (ddb.txt) and preferably the full crash dump. If it's happening repeatedly, multiple crash dumps would be helpful.

Usually that kind of error is indicative of a problem with a network interface, it's not receiving traffic properly. Could be a physical issue (e.g. a bad cable) but usually that wouldn't lead to a panic. It's possible it's a hardware issue in general and not a bug.

You can submit the information privately via Netgate TAC at https://www.netgate.com/tac-support-request if you have privacy concerns about the contents of the crash dumps, though handling it through TAC entirely may be best as they can help you determine if it's a hardware issue.
