Steps to reproduce:
1.)Under System/Advanced/Admin Access, choose the HTTP protocol under webConfiguration settings.
2.)Log out from the firewall.
3.)Change the address in your browser to http://xx.xx.xx.xx
4.)Try to login using the same credentilas as before the changing the GUI protocol.

That would have no effect on the password. The browser is -- correctly -- preventing cookies from working due to HSTS or similar protections.
Clearing the cookies/cache/etc can help, as can accessing the firewall from a new browser session or incognito/private mode.
