Description

Hello guys.

I have been testing pfsense 2.7-dev for a while, is my current version on my lan(home)network.
Right now my current version is:

2.7.0-DEVELOPMENT (amd64)
built on Fri Dec 30 06:05:04 UTC 2022
FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT

I had read different post from the forum and some post here, I have some issue with dns resolver, I try to see if exist some extra debug to share just let me and I will follow your orders.

From time to time, I can navigate but suddenly my browsers stop loading pages, this behavior is been for more than 2 months, very often, this is my lab them I have install pfsense a lot of times, this mean is a fresh installation right now, because some times I can break things and I start over.

I was thinking that maybe was my ISP, but this is happening very often.

Now I have this bunch of images that I had load here where u can see the issue.

Please check the images, in same cases dns resolver(127.0.0.1) won't answer on others the test from pfsense GUI answer the query but not on the client side.
Now this a small network, pfsense, my switch and my laptop by cable, nothing big, all 1GB speed.

What I can tell u is that the dns resolver service is not down, is up and running, u can see image called img-d.
I have watchdog with telegram notifications nut I don't receive any, because the services is not down.

What I have dome is to enable forward mode and I have no issues.

I upload images of my dns resolver settings, I just enable thing related to dhcp and ovpn.

If exist more info related to this issue please let me know, regards!!!

There really isn't much to go on here so it's hard to say what might be happening. It's normal for the DNS Resolver to restart occasionally (especially if you have DHCP lease registration enabled), but the restarts are typically fast enough that users wouldn't notice.

Some features utilizing the DNS resolver, such as pfBlocker DNSBL, can slow that restart down. We already have existing open issues for tracking down problems of that nature, however. See issues such as #10624, #5413, and others.

This should really be discussed and diagnosed further on the forum until a more specific root cause can be identified, rather than the symptoms. It's almost certainly either a known/duplicate issue or a local problem unrelated to the resolver itself.
