Bug #14216
openntopng causes OpenVPN server errors 'error - IP packet with unknown IP version=15 seen' when OpenVPN server interface is selected
0%
Description
If the OpenVPN server interface is selected in the ntopng 'General Options' - 'Interfaces', it causes thousands of OpenVPN server error logs at random intervals.
The OpenVPN server logs say - 'error - IP packet with unknown IP version=15 seen'.
No clients need to connect to the server to cause the errors to start at random.
It is not a problem with server-client compression, even though that can cause same error messages (as mentioned, no client needs to connect for errors to start).
Clean reinstall does not solve the problem.
After deselecting the OpenVPN interfaces in ntopng 'General Options' - 'Interfaces', no errors occur.
I can reproduce the problem by selecting the OpenVPN server interfaces in ntopng settings.
More details and troubleshooting can be found at the forum thread I opened in 2021

I couldn't reproduce this issue on the 23.01 pfSense Plus release.
ntopng net 0.8.13_10
Can you please advise what the pfSense version you're running is?

Fresh install 2.6.0-RELEASE (amd64) with current packages.
ntopng net 0.8.13_10
There are other installed packages also - apcupsd, arping, arpwatch, bandwidthd, Cron, darkstat, frr, iperf, lldpd, mailreport, mtr-nox11, nmap, openvpn-client-export, pfBlockerNG-devel, RRD_Summary, Service_Watchdog, Status_Traffic_Totals, WireGuard.
The error persisted trough multiple reinstalls on different hardware, until I deselected the OpenVPN interfaces.
