Bug #14600
closed2.7.0 Installation error on Oracle Cloud Infrastrucutre (OCI)
0%
Description
I'm following this instructions to install pfSense 2.7.0 on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
https://docs.oracle.com/en/learn/oci-pfsense/index.html#introduction
The documentation is used as reference since was created for 2.6.0, but I applyed same steps for OCI VM creation.
At Task2-6, when the VM is booted and the installation menu is shown, I selected "Install" an then "Auto (ZFS) - Guided Root-on-ZFS"".
Then if "Proceed with Installation" is selected, a error message is shown: "No disk(s) present to configure"
If "Pool Type/Disks" is selected, same error message is shown.
If "Auto (UFS)" is selected, same message error is displayed.
The disk is recogniced, since at "Disk Info" menu entry, if "da0 - ORACLE BlockVolume" is selected, the info of a 47G Disk is displayed, and match with the VM disk size.
The disk info is:
gpart(8) show da0:
=> 1 97677311 da0 MBR (47G)
1 66584 1 efi (33M)
66585 1734864 2 freebsd [active] (847M)
1801449 131072 3 fat32 (64M)
1932521 95744791 - free - (46G)
camcontrol(8) inquiry da0:
pass1: <ORACLE BlockVolume 1.0> Fixed Direct Acces SPC-1 SCSI device
pass1: Serial Number
pass1: 300.000MB/s transfers, Command Queueing Enabled
camcontrol(8) identify da0:

Hello,
Can you please provide the full boot log for the installer?

Press space to select the disk for use, as described in the documentation:

Hello Jim,
The screen it shows me is a little different from what the manual shows.
I attach it as pfSense_1.png.
I don't get the checkbox at the left, and if I press "OK" I just get the disk information (attached as pfSense_2.png when bar is over disk "da0" and pfSense_3.png when it is over md3)
The only way to get out of this menu is to select "Back".
Also, from the main "ZFS Configuration" menu, if I select "Pool Type/Disks:" or ">>> Install", I get an error, the same in both cases (attached as pfSenes_4.png)
How can I get the full boot log to send to you? ...I cannot go forward this point on the installation
Thanks & Regards

Nothing we can do about that, then. There must be something about that particular disk setup that isn't compatible, and we don't claim to support that platform.
We have a different installation setup in the works, you can try that when it comes out in the very near future.
