Description

When you goto enter account and passwpord details for smtp server then press test, it may work. However, the saved password is reset.

Not sure if this is when you are testing settings changes that do not work first time and you need to re-enter and confirm password with every test. Result was I had failed tests as the password was reset without me having any prompt.

Suggest the Test SMTP button retains an entered password or the notice is updated to reflect this situation.

Change "A test notification will be sent even if the service is marked as disabled. The last SAVED values will be used, not necessarily the values entered here." to "A test notification will be sent even if the service is marked as disabled. The last SAVED values will be used, not necessarily the values entered here. If you change password details please save the config prior to saving."

The current text is clear in stating that it uses the SAVED values, not what was entered into the form, and that applies to all fields (even the password).

I would say it is a poor UI decision. The length of page, the largeness of the test mail settings button, the small text with less than clear language will have others making similar mistakes to what I did.

A notice to say have you saved your settings when doing the test or even better a Save and Test button. I suspect many people have fallen foul of this until they know and then they are fine but seems less than ideal.
