Description

It would be nice if there were a unified mechanism of notifying admins of
- updates to the base system
- updates to any of the installed packages
- availability of any recommended patches

and optionally:
- updates to available packages
- availability of any patch

The reason why this is important, because for many situations pfSense is used in a set and forget mode, and unless something pokes the admin, the default is to do nothing.
Having to log in to see if there are package updates, system updates, or any recommended patches (the last of which aren't even advertised on the dashboard (submitted a separate issue on that)), leads to systems being less up to date than they should be, and thus to avoidable vulnerabilities and increased attack surfaces.
