Feature #15884
openFeatures Request - DHCP multiple subnet support | Relay forces you to disable server for all networks.
0%
Description
I have been working with a L3 switch and found some limitations with pfSense's implementation of DHCP.
First, you can't enable DHCP relay for a network if you have DHCP server enabled for another network.
Second, I can't add subnet pools to networks that are not directly connected to pfSense.
Checked ISC and KEA, unfortunately no joy. Tested on SG-4100 24.11 firmware.
I wonder, since Netgate team has been working a lot to improve KEA lately, if those features could be included in a Todo list. I think that the time for this feature request goes along with the work that is already being worked on.
Thanks

I can confirm this is an issue.
However, there is a debate on the usefulness of adding this to pfSense CE and Plus, as if you're reaching the point where you have multiple subnets for DHCP you should likely be running a dedicated DHCP server instead of running it on your firewall.
That said, not being able to run the relay while the DHCP server is enabled is clearly a silly limitation, as you should be able to bind it to certain interfaces that don't have DHCP running at all.
Marking bug report as Confirmed.

Completely agree.
The ability to run a relay and Kea at the same time is on the roadmap. I've long wanted this myself.
