Description

The primary application scenario is for VPN tunnels. You can choose to add FEC functionality to a specific endpoint to address network packet loss, especially when there is an urgent need for network packet loss exceeding 5%.

  • Subject changed from Adding FEC support has resolved cross-border network packet loss. to Forward Error Correction support
  • Status changed from New to Rejected
  • Priority changed from High to Very Low

As far as I can see that isn't something that can just be added in general as you suggest. Certain network interfaces/drivers support it directly with compatible SFPs, for example, and it has to be enabled on both sides of a link, in which case it's something the user would have to knowingly enable in their network equipment. Or it has to be built into an application directly, meaning it isn't something the firewall can opt into, the underlying software itself (e.g. strongSwan, WireGuard) would have to include support.
