Description
Tested on
Package versions 6.2.0_7 and 6.2.0_8
26.07-RELEASE (amd64) built on Fri Aug 7 22:26:00 MSK 2026 FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT
26.10-DEVELOPMENT (amd64) built on Sat Aug 22 6:00:00 UTC 2026 FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT
It appears ntopng is stuck on startup.lua stage if it fails to download the hardcoded feeds. In my case it was https://rules.emergingthreats.net/fwrules/emerging-Block-IPs.txt and https://feed.ntop.org/blog.json.
Workaround was
sed -i '' 's/"enabled":true/"enabled":false/' \
/usr/local/share/ntopng/httpdocs/misc/lists/builtin/emerging_threats.list
sed -i '' '343s/^/-- /' \
/usr/local/share/ntopng/scripts/callbacks/system/startup.lua
