Bug #1721
closeduPnP issue with STATIC ip addresses
0%
Description
"No I'm rejecting it because it's a support request, not a bug report. If you want to dig into it and find the real cause, I welcome a real bug report with a patch to fix it attached."
Okay I was able to pin-point the problem. Well sorta, it has to do with setting a static IP on the device (in my case it was the xbox) that is causing the issues. When I set it back to dhcp, it worked fine. When I set it to an static IP, it fails to register with the uPnP service. I have tested this with kerio control and did not have this issue.
Please don't delete this, I am getting closer, I am a Window .Net programmer and I don't know much about FreeBSD. What tool would I use to see the traffic coming from the xbox so I can include it with this report. I will try to create a patch, but I am very new. I am sorry about all this, but I don't know how you can program and not take a break to kill someone online. I hope to have more details later tonight.

If I remember correctly the Xbox will not request uPNP mapping when the IP address is configured statically.
Try turning on the logging for upnp and see if the xbox requests it at all.
Otherwise just create a static dhcp mapping for the xbox and then it should do the upnp mapping thing again.

Please read the above, I have tested with a static IP on kerio control, which too is either FreeBSD or Linux based (not using windows version) and it works correctly. I will try turning on logging and see if the xbox even tries. I will post full logs here if its alright. later.

Where do I find the logs or is it easier to find them via the file system?
