Description

For PPTP clients DNS fails, I get a DNS time out, on every IP on a pfSense interface for which DNS is configured including the PPTP server IP. I have a PPTP Client to any rule and can connect to other DNS servers without issue through any pfSense Interface. I am not seeing any errors in the VPN, Firewall or System logs that explain what is happening.

I have no issues using DNS services on pfSense interfaces from local IPs or from clients on the other side of an IPsec tunnel. I have not yet tested for this issue with a Mobile Client IPsec tunnel.

most people run exactly that way, it works. I just double checked another install to verify. Though I don't have an amd64 install handy that I can test PPTP with, may be something along the same lines as one other mpd issue on 64 bit only. leaving to feedback hoping others can contribute test results.

It works fine for me on amd64. No problems at all.
Try use tcpdump and see if the dns traffic is even hitting the FW.

thanks Warren, definitely not an issue as described then. Chris, post to the forum or mailing list for help.
