If the Unity plugin is enabled, garbage is added to the last domain listed in Split DNS. In my case, it's always the character 'p'.
For instance, if the Split DNS entry is "mydomain.com", then strongSwan will send a domain of "mydomain.comp". If the Split DNS entry is "mydomain.com bogus", then strongSwan will send domains of "mydomain.com" and "bogusp".
You can see this by setting the Message encoding debug level to "highest" and looking at the generated packets.
Note that the garbage does not appear in /var/etc/strongswan.conf, so I presume this to be an upstream defect.
