Bug #7374
closed
Barnyard2 package has incomplete install when installed as Suricata depedency
Added by Randy Terbush about 7 years ago.
Updated over 2 years ago.
Description
This seems to be possible duplicate of #3756 which was marked resolved 2 years ago, but still appears to be an issue.
Installation of barnyard2 is completed as dependency of Suricata install, but the configuration for barnyard2 points to a non-existent snort install which I suspect is the default.
Barnyard2 will not start for Suricata logging without editing the configuration files by hand.

No, absolutely not, plus completely unclear what's your complaint here. You configure things via the Suricata/Snort GUI, not by manual messing with things via shell.
Maybe you can take a little different attitude and take time to read what I wrote since I took the time to search the bug database and to report the issue.
Barnyard2 will not start from the Suricata GUI on pfsense 2.3.3. (and did not work on 2.3.2). The problem, after investigating a bit more in the shell is that the current configuration for barnyard2 points to non-existent snort installation. Pretty much what I wrote in my initial report. The installation is clearly incomplete.
Like, read what? There is zero information here to determine anything and it has nothing to do with the PBI junk on <=2.2.x versions. Start a thread on forums until you have some useful bug report.

"Kill Bill", please find a way to interact with a more professional tone. Thanks.

I'll take it up with Netgate support if this is the attitude I get here.
Easy to be a dick when you don't use your real name...
- Status changed from New to Closed
Barnyard2 has been removed from both the Snort and Suricata packages.
