Description

i have a apu2c4 running amd64 2.4 full with bios and pfsense both set to 115200 baud rate but when i boot i get the bios message clearly, then when it comes to the pfsense menu where u select single user mode etc, all that seems corrupt with all characters appearing twice in same line, once it crosses that then the console again gets back to normal and i can see the device manger logs and the actual pfsense bootup sequence clearly.

due to this i cant boot to single user mode and set trim on the ssd

  • Status changed from New to Not a Bug
  • Target version deleted (2.4.0)

That comes from the system BIOS, not the operating system. It is likely performing some kind of VGA->serial redirection on top of the OS serial output, causing it to appear twice.

Nothing we can do to automatically handle that for your hardware. Maybe if you hand edit the console config and tell it only to use comconsole and not to have vidconsole as a secondary.

On 2.4 you can use the console reboot menu to tell it to reboot into single user mode on the next boot. Even better would be to wipe and reload with ZFS on 2.4, which has TRIM automatically.

Either way there is nothing for us to fix.
