Description

Hi,

It may just be me (sorry if it is!), but similar to this thread ... I'm finding that some custom shell commands cause other services to not start on boot (and some scripts run correctly, others don't). The scripts I'm running all execute a program using the daemon comment - so they should be graceful ... I think ... ;-).

Thanks!

There is literally no info to reproduce the problem, neither here, not on the forum thread.

More debugging here, it seems to be due to the USB NIC driver ... trying to use it to access the network (at the shellcmd portion of boot) causes services to not run. Perhaps close this, focus rather on the USB NIC driver bug?

Thanks!

USB NICs are not suitable for routers. Definitely unrelated to shellcmd.

Yep, understood, and working round the USB NIC. But the shellcmd issue is only showing up in this case ... change the USB NIC (to one with a different driver), and the issue goes away. But I'd say we close this - it does seem to be driver related.

OK, I'm closing this since, as stated, it isn't a bug.

If you have a USB NIC problem, you will have to try replicating it on FreeBSD and report it upstream. We don't maintain or debug USB NIC drivers.
