Description

upgrade doesnt work, says everything is successful, reboots...and is the same version as before it "upgraded"

I have tried both command line and webgui, neither seems to report any error and neither produces a version upgrade that I can tell

Current Base System 2.4.0.b.20170804.1634
Latest Base System 2.4.1.a.20170907.1639

this is running in esxi (test/learning/backup)

Manufacturer Supermicro
Model X9SCL/X9SCM
CPU 4 CPUs x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E31230 @ 3.20GHz
Memory 31.97 GB

I have attached the upgrade output text, plus the only log that I could find that appeared like it might have info from what the upgrade is actually doing (I'm iffy on log locations, happy to include anything else if someone thinks this should be checked into)

I can always just reinstall overtop so its not a big deal, but it seems...unintended that it would apparently silently fail to upgrade.

there do not seem to be any other tickets similar, most of the closest are closed.

  • Status changed from New to Not a Bug

There was a minor issue around the time of your present snapshot, but it was solved a day or two later and thus is not a valid, current bug. There are several forum posts describing how to ensure the upgrade happens properly on the 2.4 board. If you can't find one, start a new thread there.

ok, found and tried this :
https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=135004.msg741752#msg741752

pkg update -f
pkg upgrade -f

seems to have done it

Current Base System 2.4.1.a.20170908.1042
Latest Base System 2.4.1.a.20170908.1802

no way to close?
