Description

First, pfSense is a great product. I appreciate all of the development efforts.

It would be very helpful if the OpenVPN Windows client installer would also generate an .MSI. This would allow GPO deployment which would greatly ease the adoption of OpenVPN in that environment. OpenVPN Access Server has a script to do this. Is it possible to add something like this to pfSense as well?

Thanks!

  • Category set to OpenVPN Client Export
  • Priority changed from Normal to Very Low

The procedure you linked is for the (paid) OpenVPN Access Server client. There is no MSI for the OpenVPN community client, which is what gets bundled with the export client along with the configuration and certificates. And last I looked, bundling some other .exe inside an .msi was problematic, even with NSIS, plus issues with signing.

I don't see it happening at all, even in the future, but if a reasonable method turns up we can look into it.
