Description

[Bug re-created after previous one was accidentally closed by staff]

Hi, I'm facing random crashes after upgrading from 2.3 to 2.4.

From some searches based on the backtrace, it seems like this patch from #5428 :

https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-src/commit/4204c9f01d2ab439f6e0b9454ab22d4ffcca8cc4

fixes the issue. But this is missing in 2.4:

https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-src/blob/RELENG_2_4/sys/netpfil/pf/pf_norm.c#L791

It does seem like the above patch was superseded by this :

https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-src/commit/54cf5d1b6607c1e6f2cbf32784c33720517bce49

but it does not seem to be applied in either 2.3 or 2.4

I'd like to build a replacement kernel with the change so we can get our VPN working again. Is there a specific guide for pfSense or can I just follow the standard FreeBSD guide? Do I get the kernel source from the git linked in the original report?

I've already gone through the trouble of tracing down the cause of the crashes, but don't know how to proceed with building a replacement kernel with the changes applied. Any pointers from the team will be much appreciated!

Old report and no recent recurrences. Lots of things in this area have changed, so most likely it's either fixed no longer relevant.
