Description

when upgrading to 2.4.4 the VGA console freezes, the system still boots in the background.
you can use webconfigurator / ssh to manage pf sense, but if you don't see the boot complete using VGA , don't rebuild the firewall like I did 4 times and 6 reboots later , it looks like this may be a bug in 2.4.4 , worked fine in 2.4.3 so I'm guessing something changed in the new update for VGA on PfSense

  • Project changed from pfSense Packages to pfSense
  • Category changed from Coreboot to Operating System
  • Assignee deleted (Renato Botelho)
  • Priority changed from High to Normal
  • Target version deleted (2.4.4-GS)

Please read the upgrade guide notes for 2.4.4, specifically the last few points:

https://www.netgate.com/docs/pfsense/install/upgrade-guide.html#upgrading-from-versions-older-than-pfsense-2-4-4

There may not be much we can do to automatically handle a wide range of consoles, some manual tweaks may be necessary.

Probably a duplicate of #9021, and if not, then it's most likely solved on 2.5.0 (FreeBSD 12.x)
