The telegraf ping input does not work correctly as it appears to use Linux specific command line parameters for the ping command.
Error:
Error in plugin [inputs.ping]: host foobar.com: ping: illegal option -- w
This appears to be fixed in the upstream telegraf package in version 1.9.1
