It's possible that pfSense may mount an old pfSense zpool from a separate disk (e.g. eMMC) after installing on a second disk (e.g. an SSD). This presents itself in migrations from CE to Plus, leading to the OS using the wrong kernel with the correct packages. We should provide steps to resolve this (e.g. run @zpool labelclear -f /dev/mmcsd0@ from shell; confirmed that it can be done while booted into pfSense with the wrong kernel - reboot needed afterwards). pfSense).

This issue is more prevalent now with the new functionality of 22.05.
